Youth Camps and Exchange (YCE) has programs all around the world and is designed for

young people between the ages of 15 and 22 to create and foster a spirit of

understanding among peoples of the world.

 

What is the Lions Youth Exchange Programme ?

The Lions Club International Youth Exchange Programme is an exciting programme for young people to experience different cultures from around the world.

It aims to fulfil one of the LCI Purposes:

 

“To create and foster a spirit of understanding among peoples of the world.”

 

Young people spend time experiencing a different way of life, new foods and different activities with others from around the world and in the British Isles. These young people are brought together at Youth Camp, which is held in different locations every year. Although the age range for Youth Camp / Exchange starts at 15, in the British Isles we focus on over 18 years.

 

What happens at Youth Camp in the British Isles?

During their stay at the Camp, the young people get to make friends through a variety of onsite activities lead by the Leading Lions Team and have the chance to go on days out organised by Lions Clubs in the area.

Youth Exchange is frequently described as a special and rewarding experience for the young people who participate, as well as those Lions who work to support the camp in many and varied ways..

​What about chances for our Young People to go abroad?

As well as a Camp held in this MD, there is also an opportunity for young people from the British Isles to be put forward to travel overseas as part of the Outwards Youth Exchange. The Outwards exchange programme is something every Club can be involved with by sponsoring young people in their communities. Although a Club identifies a young person or persons, their time abroad is paid for by their visiting Lions hosts and families are asked to provide the cost of travel and general spending money. So, although a Club may wish to help a deserving young person from their Charity account, they may find that the family are willing to cover the costs to pay for this valuable experience for their young person.
