District Competitions

Welcome to the first Competitions update of Lionistic year 2024/25, and I think it timely to have a quick review of the competitions that have been running since 1 January 2024 and will continue through to 31 December2024, as follows;

Best Kept Website and Best Social Media – there is no need for Clubs to submit a specific entry for either of these two categories.

Websites and social media activity for all Clubs in the District are reviewed and independent judges will pick the ‘best’ in each category. So all you need do is to carry on populating your websites and keep posting on all the different platforms to be in with a chance of winning – simples!

Photography – this ever-popular competition continues to run, broken down into the following categories,

  • Animals

  • Birds

  • Other aspects of nature (eg landscapes, seascapes, places of natural beauty)

  • Plants

  • Weather phenomenon

All you need do is take your photographs, using ‘phone or camera, remembering that entries are to be submitted digitally, in either jpg, png or pdf format.
Entries should not have been enhanced in any way (ie photoshop).
to indicate in which category/categories you are submitting a particular photo, adding your name and Club name.
There is no limit to the number of photos you can send through in any category, and they don’t have to be taken in the current year.
Then send them to competitions@lions105cw.org.uk

Now for some changes!
After careful consideration it has been decided to alter the Membership growth competition and to focus on retention as well as recruitment to better align to our commitment to Mission 1.5.

And it will become a Regional competition with points awarded on a monthly basis to each of our four Regions for the highest net growth during that month.

The aim is to circulate a monthly table to encourage and maintain awareness and the award will be presented to the year’s winning Region Chair at District Handover.

Another important change to note is that this competition will now run in line with the Lionistic year – starting on 1 July 2024 and running through to 30 June 2025.

A further change is that the Visiting Lions competition will no longer run. This decision has been made simply based on the number of entries received; only a small number of Clubs entered in 2023 and even fewer for the first six months of this year.
