Risk Assessments

2024 / 2025 Health & Safety - Risk Assessments

Following on from training provided by the British Isles (MD105) to the Health & Safety Champions for each District we are ensuring that the latest information is being cascaded to at least one representative from each club in District CW.

These sessions are being facilitated by Immediate Past District Governor Lion David McKirdy and are being delivered both on Zoom and Face to Face (Including at Autumn Forum) please keep an eye out for the email from District with the details.

Each session will deliver the same information and the presentation can be found in the resources section of this page -  Risk Assessment Presentation 2024/2025.

Please ensure that if you have attended one of the sessions that you cascade the information to the members of your club.

By attending these sessions and completing a Risk Assessment we are helping to ensure that all Lions events are well managed and that the public, people we are serving and our members are all safe.

Statement of Intent

2024 / 2025 Statement of Intent

Please can all clubs ensure that you retain the original and keep it on file, then please send a COPY to the District Health and Safety Officer.

To save unnecessary post scan and attach a copy and email to hso@lions105cw.org.uk.

Their goal as your District Health and Safety Officer is to achieve a 100% return from all clubs in District 105CW.

Once again only one (1) signature is required either President, Secretary or Health & Safety Officer.

We must remind you that it is a Legal requirement for all Businesses, organisations, factory’s, construction sites and any organised club to accept and implement Health & Safety Regulations.

The SMS Statement of Intent is (should your club have a serious accident) documented evidence, that you have accepted and implemented/observed to the best of your knowledge and ability, Health & Safety regulations.

The fact that we are ALL volunteers does not exempt us in any way from observing Health & Safety Regulations.

This we are sure you all understand.

We as Lions have a “Duty of Care” for both our members and the public.

I ask you for a COPY to keep on file as Backup should your Original statement be lost or get destroyed.

This also enables us to keep a Register of all the clubs that have signed the Statement.

Should your club have a serious incident/accident, District 105CW and MD105 would be able to support your defence, that [RS1] [RS2] Health & Safety measures were implemented to the best of your knowledge and ability.

The “SMS Statement of Intent” is almost a word for word abridged version of the “Health & Safety Policy for MD105” signed off every year by the Council Chairperson.

This policy must be adopted/accepted by all clubs in MD105.

The abridged SMS “Statement of Intent” relates specifically to individual clubs. Copies of both are included on the District 105CW website and in the resource section of this page
